Sting well-represented on NHL Draft watch list

Seven Sarnia Sting players are included on NHL Central Scouting’s October ‘Players to Watch’ list for the 2026 NHL Draft scheduled to take place next summer.

A total of 92 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) players are featured.

Centre Alessandro Di Iorio is one of just nine OHLers to receive an "A" rating, which means he's a candidate to be taken in the first round.

Di Iorio has yet to play for the Sting this season as he recovers from an injury. He scored 11 goals and added 27 assists in 58 games last season as a rookie.

Meanwhile, Beckham Edwards received a "B" rating as a second or third round candidate. After putting up 45 points in his rookie year, he has 12 points in 10 contests this season.

Ryan Brown, who's into his third season in a Sting uniform, is a "C" rated prospect, who could be taken in the fourth or fifth round.

Chase Gaughan, Kase Kamzik, Matthew Manza, Patrick Quinlan each received a "W" rating which means they're candidates to be chosen in the sixth or seventh round.

Others to receive an "A" rating include Ethan Belchetz (Windsor Spitfires), Oscar Hemming (Kitchener Rangers), Nikita Klepov (Saginaw Spirit), Caleb Malhotra (Brantford Bulldogs), Adam Novotny (Peterborough Petes), Brooks Rogowski (Oshawa Generals) and Ryan Roobroeck (Niagara IceDogs) along with defenceman Chase Reid (Soo Greyhounds).

The 2026 NHL Draft is set to take place June 26 and 27.

The location for the decentralized draft is yet to be announced.
