Driver sought in car wash crash

About $30,000 in damage is reported at a Sarnia car wash following a bizarre incident Thursday morning.

Sarnia police said at around 1 a.m., a woman went to a London Road gas station to fuel up her blue Nissan Rogue.

After entering the store to make a purchase, she returned to her vehicle and exited the station driving the wrong way into the car wash through the open exit door.

The vehicle then stopped inside the car wash and reversed, slamming into the exit door which had since closed.

Video surveillance shows the female driver exiting her vehicle and attempting to exit the garage through a locked door, at which point she examines the damage to her SUV and re-enters the vehicle.

Police said the woman then pressed on the gas and rammed her vehicle through the other garage door and took off.

Sarnia police said a warrant has been issued for a 62-year-old Windsor woman for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, careless driving and failure to report an accident.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS (8477).
