Sting lose 5-3 to Peterborough

The Sarnia Sting kicked off a five-game road trip with a 5-3 loss to the Petes in Peterborough Thursday night.

Mitch Young got Sarnia on the board with a goal early in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

Easton Walos and Alessandro Di Iorio also scored for Sarnia giving the Sting a 3-2 lead in the second period.

Peterborough would then score two late goals in the second frame to take a 4-3 lead, before sealing the 5-3 victory with an empty netter in the final two minutes of the game for their fifth win in a row.

Goalie Patrick Quinlan made 22 saves in net for Sarnia, who outshot Peterborough 39-27.

Sarnia visits Kingston Sunday afternoon. Puck drop is at 4:05 p.m.
