The Sarnia Sting have parted ways with Alan Letang.
The OHL club announced on Saturday Letang has been relieved of his duties as head coach effective immediately.
"After careful evaluation, the organization believes that a new voice is needed to guide our young group and support their development through the rest of the season," read a statement from the Sarnia Sting.
Letang joined the hockey club as head coach in the summer of 2021 and was in his fifth season with the Sting.
“Alan is a good person and a strong coach who represented our organization with class every day. This was not an easy decision, but we feel it is the right one for our group at this time. We thank Alan for everything he has done for the Sting and wish him the best going forward," said GM Dylan Seca in a statement.
The Sarnia Sting are coming off 9-3 loss to Ottawa Friday night and sit second to last in the West Division after 20 games, with a 6-10-4 record.
The Sting visit the Kingston Frontenacs Sunday at 4:05 p.m.
