Police urge hit and run driver to turn themselves in

Sarnia police are urging the driver in a recent hit and run to do the right thing.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on December 9, police said an SUV hit a male pedestrian at Talfourd Street and Queen Street and left the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

In an email to Sarnia News Today, Sarnia Police Deputy Chief Ron Hansen said the investigation is still underway, and they're examining video from a wider canvass, as well as following up on tips from the community.

"We urge the driver to do the right thing now, and turn themselves in," said Hansen in the email.

Police released surveillance video of the incident in an effort to help locate the driver.

Sarnia police are also appealing to the public to report any vehicles that are similar in appearance with front end damage to notify them, at 519-344-8861 extension 0, or call Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
