Lambton OPP say if someone comes to your door offering "discounted" driveway paving, it's most likely a scam.
Police have received numerous recent reports of door-to-door paving scams occurring in various parts of the county.
Police said the salespeople often use high-pressure tactics to secure quick decisions and may demand cash payments upfront.
Often, the work done is of poor quality, significantly overpriced, or abandoned before completion.
The OPP encourages residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect themselves from fraud.
Be cautious of unsolicited offers at your door, do not feel pressured to make immediate decisions, request written estimates and verify references, never pay in full until the work has been completed to your satisfaction, and if something feels suspicious, trust your instincts.
Anyone who encounters suspicious individuals or believes they may have been targeted is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
For emergencies, call 9-1-1.
