A 31-year-old Sarnia man accused of assaulting his roommate with an altered baseball bat is facing a couple of charges.
Sarnia police officers were called to a housing unit on George Street, near Front Street, on Tuesday at 12:16 p.m. A witness reported the disturbance.
Police said a 39-year-old man in distress claimed his roommate allegedly hit him in the shoulder, arms, and back with a baseball bat that had a chain wrapped around the barrel.
Only minor injuries were reported because the victim was wearing heavy clothing at the time. He was assessed by paramedics but declined further medical treatment.
Police said the two had been arguing over their mutual living arrangements when the victim "may have bumped” into the suspect. The suspect reportedly retrieved the bat from his room.
Officers seized the bat and arrested the accused, who was identified as Joree Sinopole.
He was charged with assault with a weapon and disobeying a court order, as he was subject to a peace bond at the time.
The accused was held in custody by the court following a bail hearing. Charges against him have not been proven in court.
