Truck slams into hydro pole, bursts into flames

A pickup truck slammed into a hydro pole and caught fire in a crash late Tuesday night.

Sarnia police and Sarnia Fire and Rescue responded to a single-vehicle collision at around 10:45 p.m., on Indian Road near Hemlock Avenue.

When police arrived, there was no one inside of the vehicle.

Police said two people were spotted fleeing the scene, and the K-9 unit was unable to locate those involved.

The burnt-out vehicle was towed from the area, and the investigation continues.

Bluewater Power also responded to make the necessary repairs to the damaged pole and downed power lines.

The area was closed to traffic for a couple of hours while the scene was cleared.
