The province is investing nearly $15 million through the Ontario Transit Investment Fund to maintain reliable transit services in rural communities.
The funding aims to help drive economic growth, connecting more people to jobs and housing, and will be spread across several counties and municipalities.
That includes Middlesex County, which is receiving nearly $3.5 million to support existing services and ongoing service on four inter-community transit routes, which are:
- Route 1 from Lucan Biddulph to London
- Route 2 from Woodstock to London
- Route 3 from Dorchester to Southwold
- Route 4 from Sarnia to London
The Municipality of Lambton Shores will receive nearly $1 million to expand the coverage area for transit services and increase service frequency on Huron Shores Area Transit by adding on-demand services to the existing fixed-route bus service.
