Sarnia man wins $100K, 'My hands started shaking!'

A Sarnia retiree is celebrating his first major win after playing the lottery for about 20 years.

Murray Currah won $100,000 after he matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the LOTTO 6/49 draw for December 3, 2025.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said the 76-year-old always adds Encore to his 6/49 tickets.

“I stopped at the gas station, checked my ticket, and discovered I was a big winner,” said Murray while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I didn’t realize I won $100,000 at first — I thought it was maybe a couple hundred. I was so excited, and my hands started shaking!”

He said he was excited to tell his family.

“My daughters were stunned and so happy for me,” he said.

Currah is considering taking a trip, but plans to save most of his winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dairy Mart on Broadway Street in Wyoming.
