The Town of Petrolia has set the stage for Lambton OPP to host a fraud prevention presentation.
Deputy Mayor Joel Field recently introduced a successful motion for the town to offer Victoria Hall to Lambton OPP at no cost, to provide a public presentation in the spring, as long as it doesn't interfere with theatre bookings.
"It's a great opportunity for us to partner with the OPP and present that," Field said.
He said the topic of fraud was discussed during a board meeting held in December 2025.
Field said it's "unbelievable" the number of Lambton County residents -- not just seniors -- who have become victims of fraud.
Sarnia News Today has reached out to Lambton OPP and the board for recent fraud-related statistics but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
