A teen is facing several charges after a weapons-related incident.
Sarnia police said officers were called to the Nelson and Capel Streets area around 1 a.m. January 28, after a report that included a photo posted to social media that appeared to show a young person with a firearm pointed at their head.
Officers said they safely removed everyone inside and found a 13-year-old female victim hiding in the basement.
An investigation found the victim had allegedly been confronted by the 15-year-old, who had a handgun, and was forced into the residence and directed to take a photo with the gun pointed at their head. The victim was then told to share it on social media and threatened to not contact police.
A search warrant was later executed, and officers located an imitation firearm, later determined to be a BB gun.
As a result of the investigation, a 15-year-old female has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, forcible confinement, and uttering threats to cause death.
The accused was released from court on bail with conditions. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their identity cannot be released.
