Blowing snow cancels school buses in Sarnia-Lambton

Snow and blowing snow prompted the cancellation of school buses in Sarnia-Lambton Friday.

Because of current and forecasted conditions, school buses in ALL ZONES were cancelled. 

The Francobus Transport Service said buses in Lambton County were also cancelled.

Drifting snow and icy conditions were reported early Friday morning on area roads including Petrolia Line and Oil Heritage Road.

According the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Highway 402 from Sarnia to Watford was snow covered with partly snow covered sections and reduced visibility.

A blowing snow advisory was posted for the region Thursday warning of hazardous travel conditions Friday.

Environment Canada said strong northwesterly winds will develop behind a low pressure system, leading to widespread blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility.

Temperatures are also expected to drop throughout the day.
