The Bluewater Anglers will hold their first club event of the year Saturday.
The colder weather this winter has provided enough ice cover for the Ice Fishing Derby on February 14.
The club said the outing will be held on the first license-free weekend in Ontario, so no fishing license is needed.
The Ice Fishing Derby begins at 6 a.m. and is open to both club members and the general public.
Tickets are available for $5 at The Outdoorsman until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 13, and from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. on the day of the event in the Sarnia Bay Marina parking lot.
As stated on the event page, all fish entered must be caught in Sarnia or Point Edward.
Cash prizes will be awarded based on weight in each of the three fish categories, panfish, pike and trout.
Prizes will be awarded immediately after the weigh-in closes at 11:00 AM.
Tim Hortons will provide treats and hot chocolate.
Last year's event was the first time the club held the Ice Fishing Derby since 2018.
