UPDATE: SIU investigating Petrolia Line crash

Three people received non-life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Lambton County on Friday.

Emergency crews were called just before 4:30 p.m. to the intersection of Petrolia Line and Kimball Road.

An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer, a Mobile Crisis Response team member and the driver of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital.

The intersection of Petrolia Line and Kimball Road was closed on Friday night, so police could complete their investigation. It reopened around 5 a.m. on Saturday.

In an update on Saturday, February 14, Lambton OPP said the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) had invoked its mandate.

"The two members of the Lambton County OPP Mobile Crisis Response Team, consisting of an officer and a crisis worker, who were in the police vehicle, as well as the driver of the SUV, were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," a news release read. "As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information."
