Multiple impaired drivers arrested

Sarnia police and Lambton OPP have been busy over the past few days with impaired driving incidents.

Sarnia police said a 19-year-old woman was found passed out inside a running vehicle at the Lambton College parking lot on February 17 at 1:50 p.m.

Police allege there were obvious signs of intoxication and evidence of recent alcohol consumption within the vehicle.

She's accused of having a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, which is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. As a result, she was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.

Sarnia police said 19 impaired drivers have been arrested so far this year, representing an increase of 10 arrests over the same period in 2025.

Lambton OPP said a 36-year-old Plympton-Wyoming man was arrested during a traffic stop on February 16, around 9:30 p.m. at Oil Heritage Road near Aberarder Line.

He was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

His driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

OPP received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver on Michigan Avenue in Point Edward on February 15 at around 2 p.m.

A 59-year-old from Guelph was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and driving while under suspension.

The vehicle was impounded for a seven-day period.

On February 14, provincial police were asked to go to the Blue Water Bridge shortly after 4 p.m. about a possible impaired driver.

A 31-year-old Michigan man was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs. A 90-day driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was issued.
