Petrolia couple wins annual BWHF Dream Home Lottery

The winners of the 31st Bluewater Health Foundation (BWHF) Dream Home Lottery were crowned Thursday.

The lucky tickets were drawn at the $1.46 million dream home on Manhattan Drive at noon.

Petrolia residents S and J Jardine have the choice of taking home $1 million in cash or the grand prize home in the Rapids Parkway subdivision in Sarnia.

Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander is thrilled to crown a winner, noting $11 million has been raised over the lottery's history.

"It's definitely one of my favourite days of the year as we get to announce the culmination of a lot of work and effort and the winners of the Dream Home Lottery and 50/50 draw," said Alexander. "What an exciting day. There are so many people here, and so many who tuned in to watch. It really is a win-win for the hospital and for the lucky winner."

Alexander said the funds will support a few great initiatives taking place at the Sarnia and Petrolia sites.

"Over $450,000 has been raised this year in support of the dream home lottery and we're really appreciative to everyone who bought a ticket. We've finished the $5 million redevelopment of the cancer care clinic at Bluewater Health. A portion of the proceeds from this year's lottery have been earmarked to finalize that. The bulk of the money is actually being invested into a very important project at Petrolia's CEE hospital. The emergency room redevelopment project that recently received approval to go to RFP. That project is going to really revolutionize the emergency care services in Petrolia and we couldn't be more excited to be part of it."

"March and April, every week day, cash will be given out every single day. Those winners will be posted to our website and on our social media channels. Every single week day, a different cash prize with a higher cash prize on Fridays."

The home was built by Bridlewood Homes.

The interior design and styling was done by 12|26 Design Co. and the architectural planning was undertaken by Centre Line Home Design.

The 50/50 prize of over $257,000 was A and M Johnson from Sarnia.

Other prizes included a brand new BMW, a travel package, and thousands of dollars worth of gift cards.
