UPDATE: Westbound Hwy 402 crash sends one driver to hospital

A section of the westbound Highway 402 in Sarnia was closed on Monday evening, due to a crash involving a transport.

Lambton OPP, Sarnia Fire Rescue and Lambton responded to the collision near Airport Road just after 6:30 p.m.

Police said an SUV had slammed into the back of the tractor trailer which was hauling cars.

The 63-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to Bluewater Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said they have been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving.

Highway 402 westbound at Airport Road was closed briefly while the scene was cleared, and reopened to traffic at 8:10 p.m.
