Following significant rain over the long weekend, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has issued a water safety statement.
It said the watershed received 35 to 80 millimetres of rain over the last week, resulting in high watercourse levels.
The conservation authority said peak flows moved through the watershed Monday and water levels are now receding.
"Watercourses remain high and are expected to stay elevated into this week as an additional 5 to 10 mm of rain is forecast for late Thursday into Friday," read the statement.
The statement said we can also expect ponding, standing water, and localized flooding in natural floodplains and low-lying areas.
We're reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift-moving water, and to keep children and pets away from the water.
The conservation authority said the watershed conditions statement will remain in effect until Friday, April 10 unless otherwise updated.
