A large crowd is expected to descend upon downtown Sarnia on Thursday as the Legion's Catch the Ace progressive jackpot has grown to over $1 million.
To alleviate traffic congestion and parking issues along Front Street, the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 has partnered with the City of Sarnia to offer a free shuttle service for the remainder of the fundraiser.
"Now, for those that will say 'this is a waste of tax dollars,' the Legion worked out a rate with the city and is paying for the service," read the legion's Facebook post. "If this lottery becomes bigger, we will be expanding the shuttle service."
For now, two shuttle buses will go back and forth between Christina Street and the Centennial Park parking lots from 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Free parking will also be available in nearby city/county lots after 4:30 p.m.
Catch the Ace participants are asked to stay out of The Insignia Hotel parking unless they are a hotel patron.
Tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. on Thursdays at the legion, located at 286 Front St. N. Ticket sales will end at 7:30 p.m. and the draw will take place shortly thereafter.
The fundraiser is now into its 31st week.
Last year's fundraiser reached $2.6 million over 36 weeks.
