Teen Photo Contest opens for entries

The Teen Photo Contest, presented by Lambton County Library, Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery (JNAAG), and Lambton College is open to submissions.

This year's theme is Black and White and it allows teens between the ages of 13 and 18 to submit black-and-white photographs for the contest.

“The Teen Photo Contest gives young people real-world experience they can add to a resume or portfolio,” said Public Services Coordinator for Youth Programs and Outreach Vanitia Campbell. “Participating in a juried exhibition, meeting submission deadlines, and having work professionally displayed are valuable achievements that support future education and career goals.”

The contest encourages kids to stretch their creativity, whether it's by camera or themes.

“Teens can participate using any device with a camera, whether it is a smartphone, point-and-shoot, or DSLR,” said Gallery Exhibition Support Coordinator Rose Canino. “What matters most is creativity, perspective, and how they interpret the black-and-white theme.”

The submission categories are landscapes and cityscapes, portraits (people, pets, wildlife), and macro and close-ups.

The Grand Prize winner will receive their choice of a $100 award,a gift certificate to Mainframe, a gift certificate to Carmen’s Foto Source, or a virtual one-on-one mentoring session with award-winning photographer Peter Power.

Submissions will be accepted until Sunday, June 21, with the winner to be announced on Friday, June 26.
