Services scheduled for Dane Nisbet

Dane Nisbet will be laid to rest on Friday, one week after a tragic shooting outside of Lambton College's Lions Den claimed his life.

An obituary announcement posted by Smith Funeral Home described the 20-year-old as the perfect son, known for his "outgoing nature and endless energy."

"Dane loved his family and his dog, Benny, deeply and protected his friends fiercely. He loved all things competitive, and if you were lucky enough to have him on your hockey team, lacrosse team, or golf squad, your chances of winning increased greatly," read the obituary. "The bullet that hit Dane’s chest pierced all our hearts. He will be remembered."

Since his passing on April 10, there has been an outpouring of heartfelt messages shared on social media.

The Sarnia Golf & Curling Club, where Nisbet worked as a member of the grounds crew, described him as a kind and caring person.

The Mooretown Flags junior hockey team shared condolences along with footage of him playing on the ice.

Schools across Sarnia-Lambton, including Lambton College, lowered their flags to half-mast.
