Steps for Life Sarnia has set a $15,000 goal for this year's fundraising walk.
The Steps for Life Walk aims to raise awareness about injury prevention and to help families who have been affected by workplace injury and tragedy.
"It is a walk that sponsors families affected by workplace tragedy. This walk raises awareness about injury prevention, helps families who have been affected by workplace injuries, illness or even the loss of life," said Keynote Speaker for Steps for Life Barb Dexter. "You can sign up through Steps for Life Sarnia on Facebook, or they have a Steps for Life website that you can go to and then search the Sarnia walk, because they have walks all over Ontario and Canada, and then that's how you can just sign up to be a sponsor, or you can sign up to walk."
The family-friendly five kilometre walk is open to anyone interested in health and safety at work. Funds raised will go to support programs and services for those affected by workplace tragedies.
This year's walk takes place at Canatara park on Saturday, May 2.
"We start at the Kiwanis pavilion, and we go around Lake Chipican, and we go all the way through the whole walk of Canatara Park. And we do it twice," said Dexter. "We have refreshments and treats and goodies. And we also are looking for donations for different gifts and donations of that kind."
Everyone who takes part will receive a t-shirt at the beginning of the walk and registration opens at 9 a.m.
