Moore Optimist hosting $1 book sale

The Moore Optimist Club will host a book sale this weekend.

All the gently used books were donated, and all proceeds go towards programming the Optimist Club puts on for residents.

"We provide for the schools. There are four in our region, that we have provided some musical instruments and money towards drama programs and art programs specifically for the schools. We are really happy to do that. We also run a program for Rebound here in Corunna," said Moore Optimist President Steve Pilkey. "We also provide money towards youth programs of sports, including baseball, soccer, and hockey."

Community members were able to donate their books at local grocery stores and the Moore Sports Complex.

"This is our second season for the book sale, and we received about 4,000 books as donations from our community, and we turn around and sell it. For this Saturday, it's only $1 for any book that you want to walk out with, and we've got about 2,000 books left for you to choose from," he said.

There are books for all different ages and genres. It is a cash-only event.

"We've got lots and lots of books, and we certainly appreciate those that like to read, and they're very good books, as far as condition. Come on out, and we'll see you on Saturday. It starts at nine. I open the doors at 8:30, so if anyone wants to come early, by all means," said Pilkey.

The book sale takes place this Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Optimist Hall on the corner of Hill and Lyndoch Streets in Corunna.
