Two drivers charged after going double the speed limit in Lambton County

Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with stunt driving over the Canada Day weekend.

According to police, both drivers were going more than double the speed limit on Lakeshore Road.

The first driver was stopped east of Oil Heritage Road. Police report they were driving 144 kilometres per hour in a 70-kilometre-per-hour zone. The other driver was allegedly going 167 kilometres an hour in an 80-kilometre-per-hour zone near Cold Storage Road.

Both individuals have been charged with stunt driving. Their licenses have also been suspended for 30 days, and their vehicles have been impounded for 14 days.

Officers remind those getting behind the wheel that excessive speed reduces your ability to react, increases stopping distance, and dramatically increases the risk of serious or fatal collisions.
