A new pathologist has joined Bluewater Health's professional staff.
Dr. Syeda Qasim started working at the hospital this week and will help strengthen diagnostic services across Sarnia-Lambton.
She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at RWJ Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey, followed by a Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York.
In a news release, the hospital said she brings extensive experience in surgical pathology, intraoperative frozen section consultation, autopsy pathology, laboratory medicine, and multidisciplinary cancer care.
In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Qasim has contributed to pathology research, medical education, and numerous peer- reviewed publications and presentations.
"I chose to join Bluewater Health because of its commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a collaborative environment while serving the local community," said Dr. Qasim.
Chief of Staff and Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Mike Haddad said pathologists play a critical role in patient care by providing the accurate and timely diagnoses that guide treatment decisions.
"Dr. Qasim brings excellent training, a strong academic background, and a commitment to quality that will further strengthen our pathology services. We are delighted to welcome her to Bluewater Health and the Sarnia-Lambton community," Haddad said.
