Several local municipalities have issued fire bans ahead of the weekend.
The Village of Point Edward, Petrolia, Plympton-Wyoming, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and Lambton Shores and have all suspended open-air burn permits until conditions improve.
The temporary fire bans have been issued to help reduce smoke and protect the health and safety of residents during the ongoing air quality event.
Bans include campfires, brush piles and other outdoor fires.
Environment Canada issued an orange air quality warning for Sarnia-Lambton on Wednesday. The national weather agency said poor air quality may persist into the weekend.
