The Sarnia Legion's Catch the Ace Lottery has reached a new milestone heading into week 45, with an estimated $4.1 million up for grabs.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Past President Les Jones previously said he never expected the progressive jackpot to grow this much.
Last week's Catch the Ace draw was cancelled due to poor air quality and heavy smoke caused by wildfires in northwestern Ontario.
There are only eight envelopes left.
Ticket sales will begin at 12 p.m. at the Front Street Legion and will end at 7:30 p.m.
As part of a partnership between the Legion and City of Sarnia, a free shuttle bus will continuously travel between Christina Street and the Centennial Park parking lots from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to alleviate traffic congestion and parking concerns.
Free parking will also be available in nearby city/county lots after 4:30 p.m.
Over the past several weeks, lottery participants have been asked to drop off donations at the Legion for organizations such as the Salvation Army, the Inn of the Good Shepherd, BGC Sarnia-Lambton, Sarnia-Lambton Rebound, The Centre, and the Sarnia and District Humane Society.
On Thursday, July 23, donations will be collected in support of the YMCA Jerry McCaw Family Centre Sarnia and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton.
The organizations are seeking items such as craft kits, board games, grocery gift cards, snacks, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper and paper towels. A full list can be found on the Sarnia Legion's Facebook page.
