Tom Scott joins James Armstrong in Brooke-Alvinston mayoral race

There's a race to become the next mayor of Brooke-Alvinston in the October 26 vote.

Tom Scott filed his nomination papers this month, challenging James Armstrong who declared his intention seeking the role in May.

This isn't Scott's first attempt at becoming the head of municipal council.

He was one of four people to seek the position in 2018, after long-time mayor Don McGugan announced he would not be seeking reelection.

David Ferguson was elected to the role that year with 693 votes, while Scott placed second with 410 votes.

In 2022, Ferguson was reelected, defeating challenger and councillor James Armstrong by 110 votes.

As of July 30, Ferguson has not indicated if he will seek another term.
