Ontario's police watchdog has invoked its mandate following a serious crash in North Middlesex involving an OPP cruiser.
At around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, a passenger vehicle and an OPP cruiser collided at the intersection of Nairn Road and Centre Road.
Members of the Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and North Middlesex Fire Services responded.
Police said both the driver of the passenger vehicle and an OPP officer were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and OPP will not be providing further information regarding this incident.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
