The Sarnia Sting have signed second-round draft pick Evan Bannister, 16, to a standard player agreement.
Standing at six feet tall and weighing 176 pounds, the forward from Georgetown, Ontario, was selected 30th overall in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.
“It feels great. After you get drafted its the first thing you think about, and the goal you’re reaching for. It’s a big step in my journey, and I’m really excited to get going,” Bannister said in a media release.
Bannister was captain of Credit River Capitals during the 2025-2026 season, where he recorded 38 goals and 26 assists in 33 games.
Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca described Bannister as “one of the more dominant players in U16 hockey last year.”
“This is an exciting day for the organization. When we selected Evan, we knew we would get a competitive player who we believe is going to be someone who is important to our hockey club in every way," Seca said. "He has skill around the net, plays a real hard game, and already has great leadership."
The Sarnia Sting will start the regular season on Saturday, September 19 against Sault Ste. Marie.
Regular season games will be broadcast on Big Country 103.9FM.
