September is going to start with hot and humid conditions.
Environment Canada issued a yellow heat warning for Sarnia-Lambton late Monday afternoon.
The heat event is expected to start Tuesday, September 1, and continue into Wednesday, September 2.
Daytime highs may reach up to 31 C with humidex values near 38.
The national weather agency is encouraging residents to watch for early signs of heat exhaustion, which may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and intense fatigue. Residents were also encouraged to check in on older adults, those living alone, and at-risk individuals.
Lambton Public Health (LPH) said during heat events it can be difficult to stay cool, which can lead to heat exhaustion or even heat stroke.
"Heat warnings are issued when two or more consecutive days of daytime maximum temperatures are expected to reach 31 C or warmer and nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to sit at 20 C or warmer or when two or more consecutive days of humidex values are expected to reach 40 C or higher," read an LPH media release.
Information about extreme heat and a list of local cooling centres can be found on the health unit's website.
Heat warnings were also issued for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.
The heat event comes after heavy rainfall drenched the region. A special weather statement, calling for 30 to 50 millimetres of rainfall, was issued for Sarnia-Lambton on Sunday.
