Fall 2026 Recreation Guide sneak peek: German lessons, golf, and Casa Loma trip featured

Local residents looking to stay active and connected this fall can get an early peek this week at what’s coming to the Strangway Community Centre.

The City of Sarnia will release its Fall 2026 Recreation Programming Schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 1, giving adults aged 20 and older two full weeks to review upcoming activities before registration officially opens.

Activities Programmer Mike Neely said fall is one of their busiest seasons.

"We're really looking forward to introducing some new programs," said Neely. "Those programs will become viewable on Tuesday and then registration opens on September 15 at 9 a.m. Individuals can either register in person, over the phone or online."

The fall season will run from September 28 to December 18, 2026.

"Some of the newer programs we're introducing are German lessons, we'll have two new technology programs -- one of beginners and another one for those more at an intermediate level -- as well as a clay experience hand building pottery class," Neely said.

Golf lessons are scheduled.

"Golf lessons will be returning," Neely said. "We've had them in the past, but there was a period of time where we didn't have an instructor. So, I'm excited to bring that back. I have a lot of people who have inquired about that and were upset when we didn't offer them for a little bit."

Neely said it's important to note indoor sports won't be viewable in the first print of activities.

"I can't apply to the gym school rentals until September 1," he said. "That's when their application process opens. But I will, and have always, heard back from them on what applications have been approved before the September 15 registration date rolls around."

A Christmas day trip to Casa Loma is also planned.

Residents can preview the fall guide by visiting sarnia.ca/Recreation or by picking up a physical copy at the Strangway Community Centre.
