A widespread investigation led by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in three Windsor men and one Sarnia man facing multiple charges.
Members of the OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) began a probe in July regarding an illicit online cannabis operation dubbed "420 Highway".
Police learned that cannabis products were being supplied and distributed from multiple locations in Windsor, without the required authorization from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) or Health Canada.
On Wednesday, members of the Essex County OPP, Windsor police, and the PJFCET executed three search warrants in Windsor. Two of them were at homes, and the third was at a storage facility.
Investigators seized large quantities of dried cannabis, cannabis concentrates, hash, edible cannabis products, and vape products.
Cannabis packaging equipment, contraband tobacco products, and $24,000 in Canadian currency were also seized. The total estimated value of seized property, cannabis products, and equipment topped $366,000.
Three men from Windsor, aged 41, 42, and 57, and a 28-year-old man from Sarnia are each charged with possession of illicit cannabis, distribution of cannabis, possession with intent to both distribute and sell, and possession of criminal proceeds.
The charges have not been proven in court.
All four men have been released and will have a chance to respond to the charges in a Windsor court during the last full week in November.
