Members of the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation will gather this weekend to put forward candidates for the upcoming band council election.
A nomination meeting will be held in the gymnasium at Hillside School on Saturday, September 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Ten positions need to be filled for the next two year term; one chief and nine councillors.
While nominations can be made in person at the gathering, eligible voters may also submit nominations by mail or hand delivery.
Written nominations require a completed, signed, and witnessed voter declaration form and must be received by the electoral officer before Saturday's meeting begins to be declared valid.
Once the slate of candidates is finalized, the community will head to the polls on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Hillside School Gym, with mail-in balloting also available.
