With this year's International Plowing Match (IPM) and Rural Expo concluded in Bruce County, excitement is building for Lambton County's turn to host the event.
Dave Henderson has been nominated and elected to represent Lambton County as chair of the 2027 IPM, with the unanimous support of both the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association and the Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA).
"Working alongside the OPA, Dave and the local organizing committee look forward to bringing volunteers, farmers, businesses and community organizations together to help shape a memorable event," a media release read. "The contributions of those already involved in planning provide a valuable foundation for the year ahead. Those previously involved in committee planning will be contacted directly regarding next steps, with a warm welcome extended to both returning volunteers and new faces."
It was announced late last month the event will be held on the McLauchlin family farm just east of Petrolia, at Petrolia Line and Black Ash Road, from September 21 to 25, 2027.
The news came after an offer to host the event in Brigden was withdrawn.
"Volunteer open house meetings will take place in the coming weeks, offering an opportunity to meet the organizing team, hear about plans and discover ways to participate," the media release added. "Whether you bring agricultural knowledge, practical skills, creative ideas or simply a willingness to help, there will be opportunities to contribute. Meeting dates and locations will be announced shortly."

Lambton County previously hosted the IPM in 1923, 1973 and 1991.
Over 71,000 people attended this year's IPM near Walkerton from September 22 to 26.
