Over 1,500 Sarnia electors cast ballots on day one of online voting

Local voters wasted no time making their voices heard as online voting officially opened for the 2026 municipal election.

By 3:55 p.m. on Friday, October 16, a total of 1,533 Sarnia electors had already cast their ballot online.

According to city figures, that early rush represents about 2.5 per cent of eligible voters in the municipality on the very first day.

The online voting window will remain open until 8 p.m. on election day Monday, October 26.

To assist voters, the City of Sarnia has set up a Voter Help Centre on the first floor at city hall to support with replacing lost of misplaced voter information letters to accessing and casting ballots via on-site internet voting kiosks.

It's open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. through October 25, with extended hours on election day from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.

For those who prefer to cast a paper ballot in person, voting will take place exclusively on Monday, October 26 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at nine designated polling stations.

Sarnia Transit will also be offering free service across the entire systems on election day.
