Three trustees have been appointed to preserve all property and administer the affairs of Sarnia Legion Branch 62.
Ontario Provincial Command Executive Director Pam Sweeny confirmed the direction with Sarnia News Today via email and provided the reason behind the move.
"This action is being taken as the current administration/executive have identified minimal engagement until the reinstatement of the branch president. This is for the general welfare of the branch," Sweeny said.
When asked how operations will be impacted, Sweeny said branch officers remain in their respective positions and continue to hold their offices but their ability to make decisions is limited to only what the trustees determine is appropriate.
She confirmed Chair Mark Rogers and members Gabriele Janka and Caroline Mayo will serve in the trustee capacity for a period of up to 90 days terminating on January 12, 2027.
Sweeny said John Surins remains president.
Sarnia News Today was first notified of the installation of trustees following a Legion meeting last week, and members have since received a written notice by mail.
Ron Realesmith was removed from his role as president of Sarnia Legion Branch 62 earlier this month, pending the results of an Article Three complaint filed against him.
