Sting warn of email scam making the rounds

The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club is warning fans about an email scam that's circulating.

A notice posted to social media said individuals are impersonating members of the OHL team's Business Operations team to deceive local companies and fans.

The team said these scammers are attempting to collect payment in exchange for vendor space, merchandise tables, or promotional opportunities at upcoming home games during the 2026–27 season.

The fraudulent emails request that advance payments be submitted through unofficial channels.

The Sting said the club will never engage in a vendor agreement without prior in-person communication, and will never request advance payment for any product or service without first issuing an official invoice from our business operations department.

All legitimate communication from the Sarnia Sting will come from [email protected] or other verified @sarniasting.com email addresses.

Those who receive a suspicious e-mail or have concerns about the authenticity of any correspondence, are asked to contact a member of the business operations staff directly.
