Petrolia's Hauntings and Historical Tour returns

About 100 tickets remain for the Hauntings and Historical Tour in Petrolia.

Organized by the IODE (Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire) Margaret Stokes Chapter, the tour will feature six locations with hauntingly interesting stories.

"We had a great response to our last tour, and actually we decided we'd just run it biannually," said Tour Chairperson Dawn McNally.

Tickets are in the form of a booklet, with descriptions for each of the sites along the tour. McNally said the locations were chosen for their historical and paranormal significance.

"A couple of them have paranormal stories attached to them, so we tried to get a combination of both," she said. "They all mean something to our community."

The Hauntings and Historical Tour will be held on October 23 and October 24 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Although it's mostly a self-guided tour, McNally said there will be someone stationed at Victoria Hall.

"That's because we're going to tell you a lot about the place, we're going to take you backstage, we're going to talk to you about stories that are attached to that building, and some interesting facts," she said.

Tickets are $20 cash and proceeds will go toward the IODE Margaret Stokes Chapter.

"We're a great group of women out here who support our community through education support. We give scholarships and books to schools and support different programs [including] snack programs," McNally said. "We also do community service and citizen programs as well."

Tickets are available at Hogan Pharmacy, Petrolia Home Hardware, Olde Post Office Shoppe, and Gamma's Candy Store. McNally said on the day of the tour, remaining tickets will be available at Christ Anglican Church, located at 414 Oil Street.
