Roughly $500,000 in damage has been caused to a home in St. Clair Township after an overnight fire.
The St. Clair Township Fire Department (SCTFD) was called to the home on Brigden Road at around 8:20 p.m. on Saturday.
A statement from the fire department said that upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
“The fire started on the porch and quickly spread to the upper floor,” said Fire Chief Richard Boyes.
In an effort to suppress the flames, the fire department used its Tanker Shuttle Protocol, which allowed a continuous, high-volume water supply to be used in the area.
It was the first time this protocol was used by the SCTFD. It was deemed successful and a "significant milestone" by Boyles.
"Having the ability to provide a reliable, sustained water supply in rural areas is critical to our community,” Boyles continued.
Firefighters stayed at the home until 4:40 a.m., clearing the area.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
