Joint blitz takes 24 unsafe commercial vehicles off Lambton roads

A joint enforcement initiative targeting commercial motor vehicle safety in Lambton County has led to dozens of infractions and the removal of unsafe trucks from local roadways.

Members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently joined forces with partner agencies for Project Safe Haul, a collaborative effort aimed at improving road safety through proactive enforcement, vehicle inspections, and driver education.

Participating agencies alongside the OPP included the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Environment Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).

During the initiative, officers carried out 34 commercial vehicle inspections, which led to 58 total charges and warnings with 24 commercial vehicles taken out of service due to safety violations or non-compliance.

In a public statement to social media, Lambton OPP emphasized its ongoing commitment to working with community and government partners to ensure commercial vehicles operate safely across local highways and roads.
