Local Catholic school enrolment takes another leap ahead

Student enrolment has once again increased at local Catholic schools.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) reported it welcomed 9,644 students to begin this school year, the fourth consecutive year of increased enrolment.

The Board said elementary schools have added 422 students and secondary schools have welcomed an additional 492 students since 2022.

The Board noted enrolment trends over the past decade demonstrate long-term stability and growth in St. Clair Catholic schools, with total enrolment increasing by 859 students, or nearly 10 per cent since 2016.

Projections also indicate enrolment will continue to rise over the next 10 years, Board officials said.

“Steady enrolment growth allows us to strategically plan with confidence and keep investing in our schools” said Amy Park, SCCDSB Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. “We are grateful for the confidence that families across Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton continue to place in our schools and we are proud to serve students in every one of our communities.”

Last year, enrolment was up by 73 students at elementary schools compared to 2024 and 193 at secondary schools.
