The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton is gearing up a savory fundraiser involving local restaurants.
The November Burger Bash will take place throughout the month, beginning on Sunday.
Resource Developer and Communications Specialist Bruce McDonald said although the initiative has been rebranded, it still follows the same premise as previous years.
"The way it works is [participating restaurants] are tasked with creating a specialty burger and $2 of every purchase of that specified item is donated to the United Way," McDonald said.
As of October 28, 13 businesses had signed up.
McDonald said they're hoping to raise $3,000 to $5,000.
"The Lambton Cattleman's Association actually graciously donated $1,000 right off the bat. They are our title sponsor," he said.
The burger initiative is part of the United Way's fall campaign.
"The United Way funds 27 programs through 16 agencies," McDonald said. "What that just means is we're in every single facet of our local communities. If there's a need, we try to be there to support it."
As of October 30, $675,000 had been raised, representing 45 per cent of the United Way's $1.5 million.
