Sarnia’s Celebration of Lights is calling on community volunteers to help set up holiday displays this weekend.
"This Saturday, November 7, at Centennial Park. We're asking people to meet at the Agora stage for registration at 9 a.m., and we're going to deploy all the volunteers. We're asking for at least 100, and that is to set up all the displays," said Board Chair Dean Holtz.
All you need to bring is yourself, and maybe a few friends; all tools and some refreshments will be provided.
"We've already got the displays there at the park. So this will be to put them together. There's a bunch of nuts and bolts, and we have all the tools, " said Holtz. "And then we have to run the electrical and connect all that. So there's lots to get done."
If you can't make it out to help this weekend, there are several other days to help get things ready to go before the opening ceremonies later this month.
"The following Tuesday, which is the 10th, we're going to have what we call Crane Day. So Sterling Crane is going to come with their cranes for our five largest displays," he said. "The following Saturday, November 14, is our second community setup day again at 9 a.m. at Centennial, and that's just going to be to finish up what we have to do."
The opening ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, November 28 when Santa will turn on the lights for the holiday season.
