Sting Down Spitfires In Shootout

The Sarnia Sting scored a 5-4 shootout victory over the Windsor Spitfires in their final pre-season game on Saturday.

The Spitfires took a 3-2 advantage in the first period and extended their lead to 4-2 in the second. However, Sarnia was able to come from behind in the third to tie the game at 4-4 to force overtime. After no scoring in OT, Sarnia won it in the shootout.

Right-winger Travis Konecny led the Sting with a hat-trick that included the final two goals in the third period. Louis Latta scored once for Sarnia as well.

The Sting kick off the regular season on September 21 at 7:05pm when the take on the London Knights at home.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
