Chiarlitti and Basso Win Bronze At University Games

Former Sting defencemen Alex Basso and Nathan Chiarlitti are celebrating a bronze medal victory over the Czech Republic at the World University Games in Kazakhstan. The Czech's scored three third period goals but Canada held on to the 4-3 win Wednesday morning.

Basso finished the tournament with five assists in six games. Chiarlitti chipped in with one assist while providing a stable defensive presence for the Canadian squad.

Chiarlitti is playing with the McGill Redmen as he completes his masters at the Montreal based university, he had spent the previous three seasons at StFX. Basso is in his third season at Ryerson.

Russia edged Kazakhstan Wednesday to win gold. The Russians were the only team to beat Canada at the tournament.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
