Vikings And Irish Advance To SWOSSAA

A busy Saturday in local high school basketball saw a pair of Sarnia teams qualify for SWOSSAA later this week.

In the Senior Boys 'AAA' finals, Northern beat Great Lakes 75-30. Samuel Fairbairn was the MVP while Noah Labelle-Voisey was the Vikings' defensive player of the game. Eagle Bressette had eight points for the Wolf Pack, while Travis Conrad chipped in the seven.

The Vikings will play their SWOSSAA game Wednesday, February 22.

LCCVI fell to John McGregor 49-33 in the 'AA' finals. Josh South had 14 points and Sam Jaques picked up seven for the Lancers.

St. Pat's came from behind to beat Chatham-Kent 58-55 in the Junior Boys 'AAA' finals. Trailing by seven points heading into the final quarter, the Irish scored 21 points in the final quarter to complete the comeback.

The Irish will now get set for their SWOSSAA match, scheduled for Friday, February 24.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
