Point Edward Minor Hockey Hosting All Star Games

The Point Edward Minor Hockey Association is hosting a series of Lambton Middlesex local league all star games this weekend.

Over 200 players are taking part, in divisions ranging from novice to midget. They're holding skills competitions as well, where players can showcase their shooting and skating skills.

President Liz Page says they're thrilled to be hosting the event.

"We've definitely taken some pages out of other centre's notebooks and it was easy for us to pinpoint some things we really wanted to work at," says Page. "We really wanted to make it an all star experience with the skills competition, activities for kids, and feed them after the game. We wanted to make it really feel like they're being recognized for their skill and ability."

Point Edward Mayor Bev Hand will be doing the ceremonial puck drop for the atom game at 1pm and long time coach and village resident Milford Purdy at 3pm for pee wee game.

Page says every centre in the league, including Port Stanley, South Huron, Lambton Shores, Lambeth and Strathroy, is represented.

Action gets underway with the novice game at 9am Saturday at Pt. Edward Arena and continues throughout the day.
