Imperials Open Season Saturday Night

The Sarnia Imperials open their 2017 season Saturday night under the lights at Norm Perry Park

The Imperials will kick things off at 7pm against the Toronto Raiders. Sarnia will have a pair of home games to start the season before travelling to Sudbury June 10th.

Defensive Coordinator Michael Fioroni expects to have a strong defense this season. "We have a lot of athletes this year. We did last year too, but I think we have quite a bit more this year," says Fioroni. "I've been able to make my defense a hybrid-style this year which will bounce from a three-four to a four-three. We have a lot of speed which will make other teams fear us."

Head Coach Jake Cherski is excited to get started. "I'm feeling really good about the season, we've got a lot of guys our numbers are about the same as last year," says Cherski. "We're very athletic this year so that's always a good thing."

Last year, the Imperials had the best record in the NFC during the regular season, but lost a narrow decision to GTA in the championship game. It was GTA's second straight league championship.
